 "The Center for Cancer Epigenetics (CCE), one of several components planned for M. D. Anderson’s Institute for Basic Science, has been formed. It is co-directed by Sharon Dent, Ph.D., and Jean-Pierre Issa, M.D.

As part of the developing institute designed to foster collaboration among centers and departments with shared research goals, the new center will bring together faculty members focused on epigenetics, the study of heritable and acquired changes that affect gene expression and cellular differentiation without DNA sequence alteration.  HDAC Inhibitors

HDAC Inhibitors or Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors are a promising new class of potential anticancer fighting agents. These may reduce the size of tumors by lessening the amount of HDAC enzymes in the tumor. HDAC inhibition will allow acetylated histones to accumulate in both normal and tumor tissue and results in the transcription factor of p53 which is a tumor suppressor that helps prevent cancer. Methylgene is  a company that produces many products and techniques to inhibit certain enzymes from functioning. They do this by creating a molecule based upon research they have done on this molecule. Their products are mostly concentrated on cancer ( Citation- 7)
